Trump Set for Keynote Address at Bitcoin Conference
Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday. Trump’s recent campaign efforts have shown a pro-crypto stance, and traders are eagerly awaiting to see if he will maintain this rhetoric during his speech. The focus will be on whether he offers plans for clearer regulations in the U.S. crypto industry. Bitcoin has recouped most of its weekly losses as anticipation builds around Trump’s appearance at the conference.
Trump Raises Over $4 Million in Digital Coins
Trump’s visit to Tennessee comes at a time when his campaign has successfully raised over $4 million through various digital tokens. According to a Federal Election Commission filing, contributions have come in the form of Bitcoin, Ether, Ripple’s XRP token, the stablecoin USDC, and several memecoins. The “Trump 47” joint fundraising committee reported raising more than $118 million from April 1 to June 30, benefiting the Trump campaign, the Republican National Committee, and other associated entities.
Notably, at least 19 donors contributed more than $2.15 million in Bitcoin to the committee, with contributors from 12 states, including key battleground regions. High-profile crypto billionaires Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss each donated 15.57 Bitcoin, totaling just over $1 million at the time of their donation. Mike Belshe, CEO of BitGo, also contributed $50,000 in Bitcoin.
Trump’s Pro-Crypto Campaign Efforts
In recent months, Trump has repositioned himself as the pro-crypto presidential candidate, a significant shift from his previous stance during his tenure in the White House. In April, he launched a non-fungible token (NFT) collection on the Solana blockchain and has since become increasingly optimistic about cryptocurrencies.
During his visit to Nashville, Trump will not only deliver the keynote address at The Bitcoin Conference but will also host a campaign fundraiser where tickets are priced up to $844,600 per person. Trump remains the first major presidential candidate accepting donations in digital tokens, including Dogecoin, Shiba Inu coin, XRP, USDC, and Ether.
High-profile contributions have also come from Jesse Powell, Kraken’s founder and former CEO, who donated nearly $845,000 in Ether, and Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty, who contributed $300,000 in XRP. Alderoty was recently seen at a Trump fundraising event hosted by venture investor David Sacks in San Francisco.
