Investors Assess Earnings, Await Jobs Data

Analysts on Wall Street made estimates on various companies’ financial performance in preparation for earnings season.

It’s now that time the companies are disclosing their quarterly results and investors are comparing analysts’ estimates to the company’s actual results.

The reported earnings reports have either confirmed or refuted these analyst expectations.

This will have major implications on stock performance for the next few months. Investors are also looking forward to the July jobs report for clues about the economy’s direction.

Here is what to expect from Berkshire Hathaway Inc. among others;

Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s second-quarter earnings report and Form 10-Q will be available on the Internet on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at approximately 7:00 a.m. It is available at www.berkshirehathaway.com in Central Time.

Berkshire Hathaway and its subsidiaries are involved in a wide range of businesses, including insurance and reinsurance, utilities and energy, freight rail transportation, manufacturing, retailing, and services.

The company’s common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbols BRK.A and BRK.B.

ING Group, N.V.

On August 4, ING Group, N.V. reported a net profit of €1,178 million for the second quarter of 2022. Increased income and low-risk costs aided the performance. With a CET1 ratio of 14.7 percent, the company’s capital position remained robust.

Hyperinflationary conditions in Turkey necessitate the adoption of IAS 29, which, when combined with a goodwill impairment, had a negative impact on the net profit of €-277 million, but a modestly favorable impact on CET1.

ING declared a cash payment of €0.17 per ordinary share as an interim dividend.

Western Digital Corporation

Western Digital Corporation is expected to release its financial results on August 5, 2022, before the market opens. The financial quarter covered by the report is the end of June 2022.

According to investment research analysts, the consensus EPS expectation for the quarter is $1.51 based on 4 analysts’ predictions. For the same quarter a year ago, the reported EPS was $1.96.
